South Boston TMS is a depression clinic in South Shore, MA. As experts in the field of Psychology, we aim to manage the mental health of our clients who do not respond to medications through a series of assessments and treatments.

Studies show that 1 in six individuals is likely to develop symptoms of depression that are triggered by the following factors:

  • Stressful events and loss. According to our psychiatrist in Massachusetts, when one is faced with challenging circumstances, sadness is normal, but if unmitigated, grief can lead to Depression. Examples of stressful events are the end of a relationship, joblessness, abusive experiences, financial stress, and living through a major disaster. Examples of loss are the death of a loved one or pet.
  • Hormonal changes and certain diseases. Fluctuations of hormones due to puberty, pregnancy, and menopause can trigger Depression. Depression often happens after childbirth, a condition referred to as Post-Partum Depression (PPD). Certain diseases like heart disease, stroke, cancer, and erectile dysfunction also contribute.
  • Substance use. Smoking and alcohol worsen the symptoms of Depression.
  • Medications. As providers of depression treatment in Massachusetts, we highly recommend asking for a prescription from your physician before taking medications like steroids, blood pressure drugs, and birth control pills because they trigger Depression, especially when taken alongside medications for depressive manifestations.
  • Lack of sleep. Insufficient sleep leads to insomnia, obstructive Sleep Apnea, and hypersomnia – all of which are experienced during depressive episodes.

We offer Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS treatment) to target underactive areas of the brain of people with Depression to manage the severity of their condition and even achieve complete remission.
